The idea that started this release was picking flowers with my son (these flowers can be seen on the cover). He was happy with whatever was provided for him by nature. Why shouldn’t I be happy with any idea instinct or improvisation that comes to mind when making music?
It is by this principle I improvised and curated: Yellow Flowers. They’re all little improvisations I did on top of previous improvisations I did. As is, or looped. Nothing polished or considered, minimally mixed even. You're getting these ideas pretty much bare by modern production standards. I embraced varnish instead of polish, because there is a moment in the making of any work where it is alive. You can feel it. It arrived before you had time to doubt it. You were in the moment and recorded that moment. It makes the end-result instinctual.
for this release I cared about the first thing: the improvisation, the moment, the unargued idea. We can honor it by releasing it unchanged.
